I am running for reelection to the Skokie Park District Board in the April 4, 2023 election. I have proudly served the Skokie Park District since 2005 with dedication and commitment to the community.
I have helped oversee many of the major projects and programming changes made on behalf of the Skokie Park District.
A few among the many are:
· The creation of Skokie’s Backlot Bash
· The renovation of The Exploritorium
· The renovation of the Skatium Ice Arena
· The renovation of the Weber Leisure Center and Fitness First
· The purchase of the new Park Services Center and its extensive renovation
· The recent renovation of Laramie Park; the upcoming renovation of Central Park in 2023; as well as over two dozen neighborhood parks including 9 in the past two years
I have presided over the hiring of three outstanding executive directors, who have gone on to hire excellent, award-winning professional staff. During my tenure, the Skokie Park District has been recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency---3 times.
I collaborate with the Village of Skokie, the Skokie Library, Skokie School Districts and the Skokie Chamber of Commerce.
In 2017, I earned Master Board Member status from the Illinois Association of Park Districts. In 2019, I was appointed an IAPD Board Trustee, helping to provide research and education to advance hundreds of Illinois park and recreation agencies. I also serve on the IAPD’s Honors and Resolutions Committee, the Research Advisory Committee, and the Joint Legislative Committee.
In my 18 years here, I have never missed a monthly board meeting, budget meeting or public hearing. I have attended nearly every major event the park district has held, including serving as emcee for the Skokie Festival of Cultures, the 3-D Fireworks Festival, and Skokie’s Backlot Bash.
I am currently circulating nominating petitions to once again be elected to this voluntary public position. If you would like to sign or even wish to circulate my petition, please private message me.
Thank you so very much!
